There’s some new research stating that more than fifty percent of young adults in the US don’t have a steady romantic partner. So If you are single, you are not alone. The single collective consciousness of the planet is growing and growing.

Why Single Women Should Be Fine With Not Having A Romantic Partner

There are a helluva a lot of us singles with no romantic partner out there

This General Social Survey inquiring about relationships was for the age ranges 18-34. The numbers of singles starting from 2004 are trending upward, and this isn’t a bad thing.

In 2004, 26 percent of respondents had no romantic partner. The number shot up to 34 percent in 2012 and up another 2 percent in 2018 to 35 percent.

It’s part of a trend from the days of 1985 when only 28% of people didn’t have a romantic partner. So just like the seasons, things never stay the same. That’s one thing we can all count on. Non-romantic love friendships are one of the best things about being single.

Many young singles want to stay that way

Like 22-year-old student at the University of Georgia said during a phone interview for the Washington Post. “I’m too busy, honestly. I travel a lot, and I have a great group of friends that I hang out with.” Some singles love being independent and want to keep it this way.

Being single shows the world you’re good at being by yourself

You don’t need someone else to tell you about your greatness. You can look in the mirror and say to yourself, “Damn, girl. You’re looking like a fine glass of chocolate milk.” No marriage partner needed.

You can flirt anytime without feeling bad about it

That guy at the gym is sexier than carrot top. Get your flirt on with him. There’s nobody to get jealous. Flirting is good for your spirit. Enjoy your single life.

You’ll save tons of money

You’ll never have to share the cost or buy your broke boyfriend breakfast, drinks, or dinner. You’ll also not spend a dime traveling across the city to go see him. Put all this dinero in a savings account. It’ll be one of the best choices you’ve ever made. Trust me on this one.

Your life is your life

The calendar sitting on your desk can be for your pleasure only. No scheduling unless you want to get a haircut or meet your girlfriends for coffee. There won’t be any time juggling with your romantic partner. You can walk around abandoned parking lots with your friends it that’s your thing.

There won’t be anyone peering over your shoulder trying to bend you to their will

This happens in lots of relationships. You change for your partner. Now you don’t have to do that.

You also won’t be managing someone else’s behaviors

The habits and quirks you found “cute” become not-so-cute as time goes on. When you want to change too many things in a person, this makes any relationship a struggle you don’t want to deal with.

If you’re one of those singles with no romantic partner and you crave one, there is good news for you too!

Spring is an excellent time to build anticipation of finding the mate that is perfect for you. In your single time, enjoy your life, your freedom and binging on 1980s cheesy rom coms. Your John Cusack is out there getting ready for you, if that’s the kind of guy want in your future. Or if you’re going to be alone for a long time, if it’s OK with you, it’s OK with me.

Lots of Love,

Dina Colada
