Everything has become centralized, from the education system to the financial system to the government. Centralization leads to the potential problem of creating a single point of failure. What will you do when the institutions fail you, don’t accept your money, debank you, or become an enemy of the state because you are on the wrong side of a political narrative? While there is no perfect solution, a return to self-responsibility is a good starting place.

A Return To Self-Responsibility

Self-responsibility is required for freedom. In an age of comfort with access to movies and shows on demand, it is easy to want to stay stagnant. It may be painless to stay where you are. After all, you were likely told that the system and institutions would help you to succeed. Just go to college then you will be able to get into a better-paying career compared to if you didn’t go to college.

You will likely remain stuck as long you continue to think that the institutions have your best interest. You may find yourself living an unfree life. You may continue to do as you are told. You may stay stuck where you are. You may continue to do what others tell you to do. You may be a people pleaser. You may have never learned to say “no.”

You cannot rule over your life without taking responsibility and practicing self-discipline. You can make changes to be more disciplined and practice radical self-responsibility.

Self-responsibility requires you to learn self-discipline. That will require you to wake up and go to bed at a particular time. Work to complete tasks. Set yourself life goals for you to work to achieve. It requires hard work. That is how you can become successful in a society that wants you to be mediocre.

Self-Reliance

You can find ways to become more self-reliant. Being self-sufficient will help you regain the power the centralized institutions have taken from you. These are three strategies to become more self-reliant.

Gardening And Raising Animals

You could learn to garden and raise animals. You could plant a small garden. You could grow some vegetables on your patio or try a vertical garden. You could raise some small animals like rabbits or chickens. You will get protein from the animals while getting vegetables from your garden.

Know Your Farmers And Ranchers

You may not have enough space to start a garden or raise animals. It may also not interest you. Another option is to get to know your local farmers and ranchers. You go to your local farmer’s market.

You could buy a whole, half, or quarter cow to stock up on beef for the year to become less reliant on grocery stores. You can build relationships with your local farmer or rancher. You could then have the meat, vegetables, or fruit delivered. You could also meet the local farmer or rancher at an agreed-upon location if the drive is too far for either of you. Talk to them and come up with a plan.

You can find local farmers and ranchers in your area with Local Harvest. Local Harvest can show you where the closest farmers’ market, farmers, and ranchers are near you.

Passive Income Streams

As an employee, you lose your income if your boss fires you. Your income can also decrease if your boss decreases your hours from full-time to part-time. You want to build passive income streams so that you are independent of one source of income.

The best way to make passive income streams is by owning a business. A business has infrastructure. You want to move from the employee model to the business model in the ESBI Quadrant.

There are many ways to create passive income today. You can print on demand by self-publishing a book or selling merchandise online. You can create subscription services, like getting subscribers from Substack or selling a monthly subscription service on a website. You can have advertisements and affiliates program on a website, YouTube Channel, or both. It will only require you to spend some time researching to figure out how you want to create passive income. You then must come up with a plan and act on it.

You are your own best advocate. Take action. Build multiple income streams.

Self-Rule

You were likely trained by going through the education system, then even more if you went to college, then further if you went to graduate school or a doctoral program, you must have people rule over you in the form of politicians. Politicians, you are told, represent you. Do they represent you or the special interests who lobby them? Politicians, just like everyone else, put their self-interest first. That is why there is no such thing as a public servant.

You are a sovereign individual. You can take back your life by finding better ways to manage your time. You can work to improve yourself every day. You can practice self-responsibility. You can become more self-reliant. It is up to you to accept people ruling over you or take back your power by beginning to rule over yourself by taking action in your life.

Conclusion

A return to self-responsibility is freedom. Freedom is scary. That is why most people want safety, whether from the government or thinking they have job security.
